Editorial Board Policy of the Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing Administration

1. Purpose
This policy defines the structure, roles, and operational procedures of the Editorial Board (hereinafter referred to as the “Board”) of the Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing Administration, in accordance with the bylaws of the Korean Academy of Nursing Administration.

2. Composition and Term
The Board shall consist of approximately 15 members appointed in accordance with established criteria and procedures.
Members shall serve a term of two years and may be reappointed.

3. Chairperson
The Board shall be chaired by the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing Administration, who serves ex officio.

4. Roles and Responsibilities
The Board is responsible for overseeing the publication of the Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing Administration and related scholarly materials. Its roles include:

  • - Establishing and managing editorial policies and publication processes
  • - Reviewing submitted manuscripts and making decisions regarding acceptance or rejection
  • - Determining article processing charges
  • - Reviewing cases involving violations of publication ethics and referring such cases to the Executive Board
  • - Reviewing and making decisions on matters referred by the Executive Board
  • - Nominating peer reviewers, including providing justification for their selection
  • - Participating in editorial training programs at least once per year

5. Meetings and Decision-Making
A quorum shall consist of a majority of the Board members.
Decisions shall be made by a majority vote of members present.


Selection Criteria and Appointment Procedures for Editorial Board Members and Reviewers

Article 1. Eligibility Criteria
Editorial Board Members and Reviewers of the Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing Administration shall be selected based on the following criteria:

  • 1. Individuals who are qualified to review scholarly manuscripts through experience in advising or examining theses/dissertations in nursing management or nursing administration;
  • 2. Individuals who hold a doctoral degree and are affiliated with educational/research institutions or healthcare organizations, with up-to-date expertise in specialized areas of nursing administration;
  • 3. Individuals who have demonstrated active research engagement during the past two to three years;
  • 4. Individuals with no record of violations of research ethics.

Article 2. Composition
The Editorial Board shall consist of approximately fifteen (15) members, and the reviewer pool shall consist of approximately sixty (60) reviewers.

Article 3. Selection and Appointment Procedures
Eligible candidates shall be nominated by Board Members and Auditors of the Korean Academy of Nursing Administration from among nursing faculty nationwide, and shall be appointed upon review and approval by the full Board of Directors.
Appointments shall be made by the President of the Korean Academy of Nursing Administration following prior consent from the appointee.
Selection shall take into consideration information submitted through the Information Survey Form for Editorial Board Members and Reviewers of the Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing Administration, including but not limited to:

  • - prior editorial and peer review experience;
  • - frequency of review declination;
  • - timeliness of review completion;
  • - geographic representation; and
  • - area of research expertise.

Article 4. Term of Service
The term of office for Editorial Board Members and Reviewers shall be two (2) years and may be renewed.
The Editor-in-Chief of the Korean Academy of Nursing Administration shall serve as Chair of the Editorial Board, which consists of Editorial Board Members and Reviewers of the Journal.

Article 5. Special Reviewers
Where the principal concept or subject matter of a manuscript is highly specialized and requires expert evaluation, the Editorial Board may appoint ad hoc special reviewers at its discretion.

Article 6. Amendment
These criteria and procedures may be amended upon resolution of the Editorial Board.
