Purpose This study aimed to identify the mediating effects of self-leadership and resilience on the relationship between preceptors’ clinical teaching behavior and field adaptation of new graduate nurses. Methods Data were collected from 184 new graduate nurses working at two advanced general hospitals. The research model was designed based on PROCESS macro (model 6) proposed by Hayes and analyzed using SPSS 26.0 program. Results The results showed a positive correlation between preceptors’ clinical teaching behavior and self-leadership, resilience, and field adaptation. Preceptors’ clinical teaching behavior (β=.18, p<.001) and resilience (β=.14, p=.030) had a direct effect on the field adaptation of new graduate nurses. Self-leadership and resilience had a serial double mediating effect. Preceptors’ clinical teaching behavior had a significant effect on the field adaptation of new graduate nurses through self-leadership and resilience. Conclusion To improve the field adaptation of new graduate nurses, the government should expand the current education support project to provide sufficient manpower.
Moreover, medical institutions and nursing organizations should develop and apply programs to strengthen preceptor’s clinical teaching behavior.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to confirm the mediating effect of group efficacy in the relationship between transformational leadership and servant leadership of nursing managers recognized by new nurses and organizational socialization of new nurses.
Methods: Survey data from 121 new nurses were analyzed. The independent variables were transformational and servant leaderships, the dependent variable was the organizational socialization, and the mediating variable was the collective efficacy. The mediating effect of group efficacy in the relationship between transformational leadership, servant leadership, and organizational socialization was analyzed by hierarchical multiple regression analysis. Furthermore, the Sobel test was conducted to verify the effectiveness of the pathway.
Results: In the relationship between transformational leadership, servant leadership, and organizational socialization, the collective efficacy showed partial mediating effect.
Conclusion: To promote organizational socialization of new nurses, it is necessary to organize a nursing delivery system or induce an organizational atmosphere that allows the employees to perform together effectively. It is believed that managers and nurses should work co-operatively and create a model system that helps them achieve their common goals that correspond with the aims, values, and beliefs of the organization.
Purpose This study aimed to identify the effects of preceptors' teaching behavior, resilience, and organizational socialization on new graduate nurses' intention to stay.
Methods: Data were collected from 167 new graduate nurses working at a university hospital for a period of three months to one year and analyzed using SPSS 24.0, PROCESS Macro ver. 3.5.
Results: The results show that preceptors' teaching behavior, resilience, and organizational socialization had strong correlations with new graduate nurses' intention to stay. Preceptors' teaching behavior directly affected new graduate nurses' resilience and intention to stay. However, the results showed that preceptors' teaching behavior did not affect organizational socialization. Resilience directly affected organizational socialization and intention to stay, and had a simple mediation effect between preceptors' teaching behavior and intention to stay.
Moreover, resilience and organizational socialization were found to be significant mediators between preceptors' teaching behavior and intention to stay.
Conclusion: The results suggest that preceptors' teaching behavior is a key factor that strengthens new graduate nurses' intention to stay, as it promotes successful organizational socialization by improving their resilience and helping them overcome transition shock.

Purpose The purpose of this study was to build a hypothetical model and verify the validity among variables that influence the organizational socialization of nursing students.
Methods: Data collection was conducted from fourth year nursing students to whom questionnaires were distributed from June 18 to July 28, 2019. Of the questionnaires 320 were returned. Thirty questionnaires were not returned and 19 questionnaires with insufficient answers were excluded. For final analysis 301 questionnaires were analyzed with SPSS/WIN version 24.0 and AMOS version 24.0. Results The hypothetical model was a good fit for the data. The goodness-of-fit of the study model was x 2 =522.672, df=284, p<.001, CFI=0.91, TLI=0.90, IFI=0.91, RMR=0.03, and RMSEA=0.05. The factors influencing nursing students’ organizational socialization were self-leadership and clinical practice competency. The factors influencing nursing students’ nursing core competencies were self-leadership and clinical practice competency.
Conclusion: A professional nurse should be competent and competency can be improved by experiencing theoretical education and clinical practice education which are formal courses in nursing education. The study results suggest that developing and applying various teaching strategies and other programs along with the curriculum can increase organizational socialization in nursing students.

Purpose The purpose of this study was to identify the mediating effect of self-leadership and shared leadership in the relationship between work-life balance and organizational socialization among hospital nurses.
Methods: Survey data from 159 nurses in 5 general hospitals were analyzed. The independent variable was work-life balance, the dependent variable, organizational socialization, and the leadership parameters were self-leadership and shared leadership. The hypothesis was tested using the maximum likelihood method (ML) to analyze the covariate structure. For statistical significance of the direct and indirect effects of the hypothetical model, bootstrapping was used.
Results: In the relationship between work-life balance and organizational socialization, self-leadership had no mediating effect, but shared leadership showed complete mediation.
Conclusion: Individuals should strive to maintain work-life balance through health management and role-sharing, and organizations should analyze factors that hinder work-life balance and present policies to reduce them. In addition, to improve shared leadership, positive interactions are required, such as sharing problems, collecting opinions, and functioning as a positive role model among members of the organization.

Purpose The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of organizational socialization, perceived organizational vision, and attitude toward organizational change on organizational commitment of nurses working in one hospital.
Methods: This study was conducted with 441 participants in a hospital in A city, South Korea from Nov. 1 to 30 2017.Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson Correlation and Multiple Regression with the SPSS/WIN 23.0 program.
Results: There were significant correlations among organizational socialization, perceived organizational vision, attitude toward organizational change and organizational commitment. The factors that significantly influenced organizational commitment were organizational socialization (β=.10 p=.015). perceived organizational vision (β=.20, p<.001), and attitude toward organizational change (β=.44, p<.001). These variables explained 50.0% of the variance in organizational commitment.
Conclusion: The findings indicates that organizational socialization, perceived organizational vision and attitude toward organizational change affect organizational commitment.

Purpose The study was examined to investigate the influence of nurse manager and peer group caring behaviors on organizational socialization and nursing performance Methods: The subjects were 286 clinical nurses from a general hospital in S city. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation and hierarchical regression analysis with the SPSS 25.0 program. Nurse manager and peer group caring behaviors, organizational socialization, and nursing performance were measured using organizational climate for caring scale, peer group caring interaction scale, organizational socialization and performance measurement scale for hospital nurses. Results There was no significant difference in organizational socialization between nurse manager and peer group caring behaviors. The significant predictors of nursing performance were position (β=-.26), nurse manager caring behaviors (β=.23), and peer group caring behaviors (β=.17). These variables explained 23% of the variance in nursing performance. Conclusion: The results suggest that it is necessary to increase both manager and peer group caring behaviors in order to improve nursing performance.

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to investigate relationships among intention of retention, nursing organizational culture, empowering leadership and organizational socialization of new graduate nurses, and identify factors affecting intent to stay. METHODS Data were collected from 184 new nurses who were graduated in 2017 and are now working in three tertiary hospitals. The relationship among the variables was analyzed with Pearson coefficient correlations and factors affecting intention of retention were identified by using multiple linear regression analysis. RESULTS The mean score for intention of retention was 5.23±1.25 (out of 8). Intent to stay had positive relationships with innovation-oriented culture, relation-oriented culture, task-oriented culture, empowerment leadership, organizational socialization. Factors influencing intent to stay were ‘motivation for selection of nursing (β=.19, p<.001)’, ‘organizational commitment (β=.45, p<.001)’, ‘job identity (β=.18, p=.005)’, and ‘interpersonal relationship of personal characteristics (β=.16, p=.005)’ in organizational socialization, and ‘coaching (β=.29, p=.001)’, and ‘showing concerning (β=−.19, p=.036)’ by empowering leadership. These factors explained 53.0% of the variance in intention of retention (F=35.96, p<.001). CONCLUSION Focusing on the factors of influence derived from this study, relevant institutions and nursing organizations require the creation of a work environment and leadership to increase the retention of new graduate nurses.

PURPOSE The study was done to investigate the mediating effect of self-efficacy on the relationships between informal learning and organizational socialization and between shared leadership and organizational socialization among short career nurses. METHODS A structured self-report questionnaire was used to measure organizational socialization, informal learning, shared leadership and self-efficacy. During February, 2017, data were collected from 136 nurses working in hospitals of more than 500 beds. Data were analyzed using hierarchial multiple linear regression with the SPSS/WIN 22.0 program. RESULTS Informal learning, shared leadership and self-efficacy were positively correlated with organizational socialization of participants and self-efficacy was positively correlated with informal learning and shared leadership of participants. Also, self-efficacy had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between informal learning, shared leadership and organizational socialization. CONCLUSION The findings indicate that organizational culture with high level of informal learning and shared leadership is an important factor for organizational socialization of short career nurses. It is also expected that self-efficacy can further promote their organizational socialization.

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of emotional labor and organizational justice on organizational socialization of emergency room nurses. METHODS This study was done over a 4 month period, with 185 emergency room nurses from general and tertiary hospitals in 2 regions of Korea. The nurses completed self-report questionnaires from August 20 to September 30, 2015. The data from the self-report questionnaires were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-test, one way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and Hierachial multiple regression analysis with the IBM SPSS 21.0 program. RESULTS The significant predictors of organizational socialization for the emergency room nurses were procedural justice (β=.38), emotional labor (β=.−23) and distributive justice (β=.19). These variables explained 54% of the variance in organizational socialization of emergency room nurses. CONCLUSION The results indicate that it is necessary to formulate a plan for enhancing procedural justice and distributive justice, and for decreasing emotional labor.

PURPOSE To evaluate the relationship between organizational socialization and intention to leave, and to identify factors affecting on intention to leave in operating room nurses. METHODS This study used a descriptive design. Seventy operating room nurses recruited from three hospitals under the same management style, in-service educational system, and working conditions agreed to participate in this study, and completed self-administered questionnaires of the organizational socialization and the intention to leave questionnaire. Respondents were classified by career as advanced beginner, competent practitioner, proficient practitioner and expert practitioner by Benner's stages of nursing proficiency. Data were analyzed with t-test, ANOVA with multiple comparisons, Spearman correlation, and multiple regression analysis. RESULTS Nurses unsatisfied with the current in-service continuous education had lower organizational socialization and higher intention to leave. In advanced beginners, job performance was lowest and organizational commitment was highest. In expert practitioners, intention to leave was highest. Organizational commitment, interpersonal relationship, identity and burnout were associated with intention to leave. Mutual trust, burnout, and interpersonal relationship were predictors of intention to leave explained 20.8% of variance. CONCLUSION The career ladder program to enhance nurses' organizational socialization and intention to stay should be established and expanded for well-experienced operating room nurses.

PURPOSE In this study, we examined the differences and relationship between teaching style of preceptors, and personality, nursing performance, and organizational socialization of new nurses. METHODS The participants were 118 new nurses. The data collected from March to May 2011 were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation coefficients. RESULTS Teaching style of preceptors was most frequently judgement-initiative, and personality of new nurses was most frequently extraversion. Nursing performance (3.05+/-.59) and organizational socialization (3.05+/-.59) of new nurses were at an average level. Nursing performance and organizational socialization of new nurses were not significantly different according to teaching style of preceptors. Significant correlations were found between personality and nursing performance, and between personality and organizational socialization. CONCLUSION These findings indicate that changes in perceived teaching style of preceptors and personality of new nurses may be necessary to increase efficiency of preceptorship related to nursing performance and organizational socialization of new nurses. The above-mentioned results should be reflected in the development of effective preceptor training programs.
